Orthopaedic problems

Poor performance very often originates from pain associated with the limbs, back or neck. This may manifest itself as lameness; but commonly owners will notice more subtle issues prior to an overt lameness arising. Problems may include:

  • lack of hindlimb engagement;
  • struggling to maintain canter;
  • disunited canter or bunny hopping;
  • difficulty bending;
  • loss of balance;
  • refusing at fences;
  • cold backed; or
  • resentment towards tack.

Our equine vets are experienced in working across the wide array of equestrian sport disciplines, so are perfectly placed to listen to your concerns and will work with you to get your horse performing at the top of its game as efficiently and effectively as we can. We encourage the development of vet-client relationships, working up our own orthopaedic caseload. However, in more challenging cases we may call upon the expertise within our team as we pride ourselves on offering best practice care to every case.

If you feel that your horse may be exhibiting any of these problems, or you are worried about anything else, just give us a call and we’ll do our best to help.
