The two stage (limited) pre-purchase examination is by no means the 'cheap and cheerful' option, representing a detailed and thorough clinically examination. The reason it is referred to as limited is due to the fact the entire examination is performed at rest. The horse will not be examined at exercise under saddle which precludes us from assessing the horse's gait and behaviour at and following exercise, the horse's wind (respiratory noises e.g. roaring), or any heart problems associated with exercise.
It is important that prior to deciding whether to book and two or five stage vetting you review a detailed description of the all stages of the pre-purchase examination. If you do decide to restrict your examination to a two stage vetting, we will ask you to sign a letter requesting us to do so and acknowledging that you understanding the limits of this procedure.
