Originally from Rome, Stefano qualified in 2010 from the University of Perugia and spent the following year working at the University’s Large Animal Surgery and Radiology department.
In 2012 he moved to the Emirates to undertake an Internship at the Sheik’s equine hospital. His career then took him stateside to the role as Assistant Clinician at a large, first opinion and referral hospital in California, prior to being accepted at UC Davis for an Internship in Equine Sports Medicine.
Stefano then moved to Scotland to undertake an Internship in Equine Orthopaedics and Diagnostic Imaging at The Royal (Dick) Equine Hospital, Edinburgh, where he also conducted research projects. He further expanded his skills and knowledge in imaging at the large animal radiology department at the University of Liège in Belgium.
Stefano has a strong interest in lameness investigation, including poor performance, and diagnostic imaging, particularly ultrasonography and MRI. He has spoken at international congresses and has been published in scientific journals Equine Veterinary Education and Veterinary Radiology and Ultrasound. Stefano is also pursuing the RCVS Advanced Practitioner certificate in Large Animal Imaging and wishes to ultimately specialise in this discipline.
Aside from work, Stefano has also trained as a Sommelier and being a true Italian, apparently his homemade lasagne is world renowned! He also enjoys keeping fit by swimming and walking his beloved dog Gaia.
